Its been four months since i moved to Dublin and i am definitely enjoying the ambience, that is if you take away the weather. It just never makes up its mind what it wants to bless the earthlings with.
If this is your first visit here, you are welcome, I am a Masters student taking life one happy breath at a time, so long as i keep the worries at bay. I’m from Nigeria, the largest country in West Africa and also the most vibrant. I hail from the Yoruba Tribe, one of the largest ethnic groups in the country. My family is a comfortable one, very vibrant if you can imagine the nine lovely kids my father birthed under one roof. It’s a warm mad house i’m telling you.

My Yoruba names are Omolara, which means my child is my family, i also bear Temitope, which means mine is enough to give praise. This is mostly the trend in my tribe, to give your child names that have latent meanings. It is the general believe that whatever names the child is given, will work in some way to help the child become what he was destined to be. Mostly, children can be named based on happenings in the family or after a prominent person in the household. As for me, I’m my mother’s first so, i’m her first family outside the one she was born into.
There’s so much more about my home country that i’m dying to share like the food, our clothes, the people and historic places. However, i’m also excited to learn about Dublin and everything that happens here. so I’ll be sharing posts on both sides.
Do you have any friends from Nigeria, who are Yorubas, click here to find out the meaning of their names. Please share your comments and tell me the meanings behind your names, lets go!!!
