A Dublin Postmistress in the tiger kidnapping case four years ago has today given further testimony before a 12-member jury in the Dublin Circuit Criminal court, presided by Judge Melanie Greally.
Ms. Lawlor’s testimony described the turn of events after she was kidnapped by two men on the 25th of September, 2014 at Seabury Drive, Malahide, Dublin in her Nissan Qashqai car. She testified to have been bundled into the back seat of her car with her hands tied to the back, alongside her daughter Emma and an Italian exchange student, Gabriella.
She stated that one of the men, which she described as Number 2 freaked out as her phone rang in her bag while Number 1 was driving. She told the court that the man had asked her ‘who the fuck is ringing you at this hour of the morning’
Ms. Lawlor described the men to be unnerved after the call and stopped the car. She heard one of the men drop from the car and dropped her bag behind a bush. She stated she suspected they didn’t want to be traced.
“I feared for my life because they kept saying they were going to shoot me”, Ms. Lawlor testified. Ms. Lawlor recalled that a third man joined them in the car. She described him to be youngish with a Dublin accent as compared to the previous men who had kidnapped her
She recalled how she was hit multiple times by Number 1 after she informed them that the post office safes were time locked and would only be open by 8am.
‘’The Number 1 guy threatened to shoot me, that he would break my daughters’ arm and they would set the car on fire,’’ she testified.
Ms. Lawlor told the court: ‘’I thought I was going to die, they kept saying they were going to shoot me if I had given them the wrong codes’’
She described how she spat in the backseat of a car and plucked out her hair strands to leave DNA for Garda to find as she was fearful for her life.
In her testimony, she recalled as she was taken into the Post office by Number 3, disabled the alarm codes and told him the keys to enter the post office.
She informed the court that they had to wait till it was 8am, ‘it was just a desperate situation, it just seemed like forever’, she said.
The prosecuting counsel, presented a sample of the post office bag used and a copy of the printed notes to Ms. Lawlor, which she confirmed to have been used. Judge Greally confirmed these exhibits to be considered as admissible evidence.
The evidence hearing was adjourned to 22 October, 2019.
